The gorge of Ventamillo is located at the entrance of Valle de Benasque, interrupted by the River Esera, and in the historic county of Upper Ribagorza. The N-260, crosses between the towns of Seira and Run, heading north.
It is an impressive gorge open to Ésera through limestone rocks, and is the place of termination at past geological ages of glaciers descending from the Massif de la Maladeta and Posets.
More than 40,000 years ago the place where now stands the gorge was buried by the glacier Esera, a mass of ice that was as high as 36km in length from its upper end, with thicknesses of up to 800 meters. We can go completely down the road that accesses the Benasque Valley, through its long and narrow curves.
